Writing
I have about 7 years of writing experience, ranging from commercial product copywriting, to long-form investigative journalism, to editorials writing, to short-form creative pieces. Feel free to read some of my work below.
Taking a Swing at a New Sport
One of the newest countries in the world works to grow its presence of golf.
"Taking a Swing" is a long-form piece about the state of golf in the new, war-torn country of Kosovo. While reporting there, I discovered the one place in the country to hit a golf ball. For weeks I got to know the owner of the facility, talk to the people who traveled hours to get there, and contact western international golfing sponsors who's presence in Eastern Europe is nonexistent.
Organizations develop young leaders as best strategy for economic growth
Written as another long form piece, this was published internationally while reporting in Eastern Europe. The younger generation of Kosovo is traveling abroad to the USA, not for the American dream or for a fresh start, but to study and take their education back home. Their goals are to take what they learned, educations not always possible in Kosovo, and use it to start businesses and foundations that will help the struggling economy to grow.
"Walking on Eggshells" is an example of my editorial work. Though a bit controversial, I found it important to write an informative piece about a very real issue facing spiritual and non-spiritual people alike. A silent movement is among us, and how we handle it is very important.
Out Cold
Nine thousand miles and one military cargo plane away, there is more than just ice and penguins in the polar desert of Antarctica. Miami University has been leaving its mark there for five years now.
"Out Cold" is a short feature piece I wrote about a unique Miami University professor who takes her students from the classroom and flies them to Antactica to study. Yes, really.
