JOANN FABRICS: the newest chapter in my photography career

About a month ago I set out on my newest journey in my photography career: Joann Fabrics.

A recruiter reached out to me about the job, and they must have been listening to my thoughts, because I had just been thinking about how much I miss the corporate studio environment. Don’t get me wrong, I love my studio and the work I do there, but there’s something about the dynamic, team-based, creative environment that exists in a massive corporate studio like this.

Long story short, I got the job, and I loved it right away. I am a Photographer & Videographer for Joann Fabrics, which means I work with a team of photographers and stylists to produce all of the lifestyle and still-life assets for the Joann brand. I’m also in charge of creating all in-house social media video content, both organic and paid, including TikTok. YouTube, and Instagram. My team is awesome and they bring out the excitement and creativity of commercial photography that is all too easy to lose when you get caught up in the grind. But nothing reinvigorates your passion for photography like joining a team of fellow talented commercial artists.

The content I produce is all over the board (below is a slideshow of a small collection of the work I have done throughout the past month). A typical day for me is anything but typical— I could be shooting models showing off our new fabrics in use, or capturing a meticulously-styled home set, or touring the homes of NE Ohio to find our next location, or photographing cats and dogs for a new campaign. At that’s just the surface. So far I already love the massive variety of products, concepts, and moods that we try to emulate every day.

This new job totally fills the craving I had for a large, corporate, team-based studio environment, and I’m pumped to see where it takes me. Follow along to see all of the content I make with my team here at Joann Fabrics!
